Dear Fellow Christian Leader:
We would like to make you aware of an opportunity for you to be one of approximately fifteen to twenty participants in a two and a half week learning community at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin, USA that we call “The International Center.”
Out of Elmbrook Church’s desire to be a resource to the church worldwide, we are offering this opportunity for church leaders from around the world to join with other leaders, with our own leadership, and our congregation for two-and-a-half weeks of discussions, reflection, observation, and hands-on ministry. Past participants have experienced a true bond that will help all of us understand what God is doing around the world. We believe relationships will be formed that will be mutually beneficial for years to come as together we seek to expand God’s kingdom here on earth (Romans 1:11,12).
The content for this session will be based on ministry principle from topics that will be generated by you, the participants. We also want to stress that this will be a “learning community” where we will learn from each other. It is about the development of you, as a leader. It will not be a one sided presentation. This International Center experience will be an opportunity to learn from leaders in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe, as well as leaders from Elmbrook who will facilitate the discussions.
So, what exactly does the program look like? After an introductory retreat for the first two days at a Milwaukee hotel, participants take up residence in the homes of host families from Elmbrook Church where participants live for almost two weeks. During the week, the mornings and early afternoons consist of seminars led by qualified ministry leaders from Elmbrook Church, and the evenings are opportunities for participants to attend various ministries of interest and observe or participate. During the two weeks there are field trips to a variety of ministries around the city, for example the distinctive “James Place” ministry of Elmbrook, offering engagement with a variety of communities. On the weekends, participants attend Elmbrook Church worship services and have free time. There are several opportunities for participants to be on panels to discuss faith and ministry in their respective parts of the world. The second week together overlaps with Elmbrook Church’s annual missions conference called “Harvest Fest.” Here are opportunities to learn from missionaries ministering in numerous regions of the world.
Most important, the 15 to 18 participants, with Elmbrook staff, seek to function as a “learning community.” Through active group participation, we learn from each other’s experiences and backgrounds, pursuing the topics we discuss on a truly global basis.
The topics of
The criteria for participants include:
-English proficiency so that the participant can fully engage in discussions and study (participants must be able to understand and speak English).
-People who are in church-based or church-related ministry (most of the discussions address church ministry issues).
-People who are connected to other leaders in their region, and who hold the potential of being a resource to leaders in the future. Applicants should be in some kind of network with at least 10 other leaders.
-People who would have the support of their local congregation.
Your time at Elmbrook will include: studying the word of God, topical ministry presentations and discussions, observation of and participation in ministries at Elmbrook Church, optional times for personal study and reflection and involvement with the congregation.
The dates for the 2020 session are April 23 through May 7. Participants must be here for the entire duration of the time.
Elmbrook Church will provide housing and meals for participants and local transportation as necessary. Personal expenses and international travel expenses to get to Elmbrook are the responsibility of the participants and their sponsoring churches, although, if needed, a scholarship fund for international travel is available via this application. We request that applicants make sure that they can be here for the entire period.
Please apply as soon as possible, but in any case, no later than August 31, 2019. We will notify you by November 15 as to whether you have been selected for the 2020 session of The International Center.

Thank you so much for sending the Nomination form to nominate someone from our circle in India. It is still so fresh in my mind had the privilege of attending the very first International Center. I was so blessed and enriched by meeting so many other Christian workers from different parts of the world.
I take the privilege of Nominating a good friend of mine who is heading the Community Health Ministry at a Christian Mission Hospital in North India. He is Mr. Daniel Francis. A fine young man who is focused on reaching out the underprivileged community at the remote part of the country in North. I have been training him and his team on skill development through which program the gospel is being reached. I am sure Danny attending this International Center event will enrich his views, specially meeting other coming from different parts of the world.
I am very much praying for the upcoming event and may the good Lord get HIS mission accomplished through HIS servants.
God is good. I am grateful to the Family of Gary and Valerie Richter having nominated me for this wonderful mission trip at Elmbrook Church Wisconsin.

Hello everyone,
Greetings from Brazil to all and blessings from our might and sovereign God and Lord.
I’ve applied to the 2020 session and the programed date to have a response is nov15 and I didn’t receive any answer from Elmbrook staff.
So my question is: I must consider this silence as a negative answer to my application or you will yet respond to me (and all the other candidates)?
I will appreciate it if you may answer me soon so I can manage my schedule in order to participate in the 2020 session.
